Brahmatal Trek Itinerary – Day by Day
Day 1: Dehradun to Lohajung (6,400 ft)
Drive Distance: 320 km | Time: 9–10 hours
Route: Dehradun → Rishikesh → Karnaprayag → Dewal → Lohajung
Kathogdam → Gwaldam → Dewal → Lohajung
Stay: Guest house/homestay in Lohajung (Triple/ Quad Sharing)
Your journey begins from Prince Chowk Dehradun at 7am or from Balaknath Temple at Rishikesh around 8.30a.m. The Drive to Lohajung from Dehradun/Rishikesh is beautiful. Along the way, you’ll pass through Rishikesh, Devprayag and Karnaprayag. Evening briefing at Lohajung prepares you for the trek.
Day 2: Lohajung to Bekaltal (9,000 ft)
Trek Distance: 6 km | Time: 4–5 hours
Stay: Campsite at Bekaltal
The trek begins! You’ll walk through dense pine and oak forests before reaching Bekaltal, a scenic high-altitude lake that often freezes in winter. This is one of the most picturesque campsites of the trek. The campsites are generally near to an old pond with Bekaltal lake around 250m from the campsite.
Day 3: Bekaltal to Brahmatal (11,100 ft)
Trek Distance: 6 km | Time: 4-5 hours
Stay: Campsite at Brahmatal Base
Today’s trek is short but rewarding. As you gain altitude, you’ll see stunning views of Himalayan peaks such as Mt. Trishul (7120m), Mt. Nanda Ghunti (6309m), Chaukhamba Range, Neelkanth Peak, Hathi Godha Peak, Panchachuli Range, Maikotli and Mrigthuni. The Brahmatal Base campsite is perfect for stargazing at night. You will witness the Brahmatal peak right next to you giving you an aderaline rush that you might never have experienced before. The Calmness around the lake and the feeling that Lord Brahma once meditated near the lake makes this trek even more memorable.
Day 4: Summit Day – Brahmatal Summit (12,500 ft) → Descend to Daldam (8,900 ft)
Trek Distance: 9 km | Time: 6–7 hours
Stay: Campsite at Daldam
This is the most exciting day! Start early (around 5-6 AM) for the summit push. The Brahmatal summit offers a 360° panoramic view of the Himalayas, including Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and Chaukhamba massif. After enjoying the sunrise, descend to Daldam campsite for the night.
Day 5: Daldam to Lohajung (6,400 ft) → Drive to Dehradun
Trek Distance: 4 km | Time: 3–4 hours
Drive: 220 km, 9–10 hours back to Dehradun
Descent back to Lohajung. Be watchful for your foot movements as the route might be slippery. Once you reach Lohajung drive back to Dehradun, marking the end of your Brahmatal trek with lifelong memories.

Is Brahmatal Trek safe in December ?
Yes, the Trek is safe in all months. But to trek in winters you should be properly equipped in terms of equipment and clothes else the peak winters and chilling winds will be enough to prevent you from reaching the summit.
Is there network in Lohajung ?
Yes, In Lohajung all networks are available but during Trek you will not get any network.
What if we want to leave extra luggage at the base village?
You can keep extra luggage in the base village for any particular trek. There are no cloak room charges applicable. Its free of cost.
Is there mobile signals available on treks?
If you are going on a trek don’t expect mobile signals. There are few spots on the trails of few treks where you might find a single tower or something but it always depends if that is enough to make a call or not.
How do you manage toilets?
As there are no permanent toilets on the trek, we carry toilet tents which are dry toilets so you need to carry wet tissues/tissue wipes with you.

Can we consume Alcohol during the trek?
It’s a strict no. If you fall sick during the trek due to alcohol consumption The Searching Souls has the right to cancel your trek and send you back to base the village. No expenses shall be refunded in that case and you will have to pay additional for stay at base village.
How do I prepare for the trek?
Start running or walking at least 3-4 Kms everyday. This will help your body get used to walking, which makes your trekking experience smoother and more comfortable.
What kind of shoes will I need? Does a sport shoe work?
If it’s a snow trek good trekking shoes are mandatory. If you buy new shoes, do walk for a few days so that it fits you well and doesn’t leave you with blisters while you trek. If it is a summer trek or post monsoon trek, shoes with good grip and ankle support will do.
What food do you provide?
We provide 3 Veg meals and evening Snacks. There will be no non veg served during the trek. Eggs may or may not be served depending on the trek.
Do I need to carry trek equipment?
We will provide sleeping bags, inner liners, sleeping mats, tents. You just need to carry your personal gear. List of personal Gear is available on our website under the ‘Trek Essentials’.
What happens if there is an emergency?
Himalayan Treks & Expeditions prides itself on being prepared for any emergency situation. Our guides are trained in first aid and can deal with most of the basic ailments that occur during a trek. Every camp site has basic first aid and oxygen cylinders But if a serious emergency occurs, we will evacuate you to the base village and nearest hospital but the expenses of that have to be borne by the individual.
