Day 1: Manali to Jobra Drive | Trek to Chika
Drive Distance: Approx. 20 km
Trek Distance: Approx. 3 km
Your journey begins from Manali with a scenic drive to Jobra, the last motorable point of the trek. From Jobra, you start your trek towards Chika campsite.
Although the trekking distance on the first day is short, the altitude gain of nearly 1000 meters can feel challenging, especially if you are starting the trek immediately after arriving in Manali. It is recommended to walk at a steady pace and drink plenty of water to avoid altitude-related discomfort.
The trail passes through dense pine forests, waterfalls, and beautiful mountain streams, offering a perfect introduction to the trek.
Day 2: Chika to Balu Ka Ghera
Trek Distance: Approx. 7 km
Altitude Gain: Approx. 500 meters
On the second day, the trek continues from Chika to Balu Ka Ghera. This section involves gradual yet steep ascents and tests your endurance and fitness.
The trail opens into wide green valley’s surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. Balu Ka Ghera is considered one of the most beautiful campsites on any monsoon trek in India. Starting early in the morning allows trekkers to fully enjoy the breathtaking views throughout the day.
Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera to Shea Goru via Hampta Pass

This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the Hampta Pass Trek. Early in the morning, trekkers begin the ascent towards Hampta Pass.The summit lies approximately 4 km from Balu Ka Ghera. The climb includes steep ascents, snow patches, and rocky terrain. After reaching the pass, trekkers descend another 4 km towards Shea Goru campsite.

Day 4: Shea Goru to Chatru | Chandratal Excursion

Drive Distance to Chandratal: Approx. 50 km (One Way)
Day four is comparatively easier and one of the most scenic days of the trek. The trail gradually descends towards Chatru, the final campsite of the trek.
After reaching Chatru, trekkers usually head for an adventurous off-road drive to Chandratal Lake, also known as the “Moon Lake.” The drive takes around three hours one way and offers spectacular views of the rugged Spiti terrain.
After spending time at Chandratal Lake, trekkers return to Chatru campsite for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Chatru to Manali Drive
Drive Distance: Approx. 64 km
Drive Duration: Approx. 4 hours
After breakfast, the return drive from Chatru to Manali begins. Trekkers usually reach Manali by afternoon, marking the end of an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
