KGL Trek Advisory: Latest Update 2026
Introduction:
The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek (KGL) is one of the most breathtaking and sought-after treks in India. Known for its alpine lakes, lush meadows, and panoramic mountain views, this trek attracts thousands of adventure seekers every year.
As we all know that due to Pahalgam Terror attack no permission was granted for KGL or any other trek in Kashmir during that time and the trek were completely closed.
As we approach the 2026 trekking season, There are lots of questions in the trekkers mind whether or not the, trek will continue in 2026. So, looking at the current scenario here is an important travel advisory and booking update for all trekkers planning their KGL Trek.
KGL Trek 2026 Advisory:
Due to recent security concerns the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has temporarily suspended the Kashmir Great Lake Trek. While this is disappointing for all of us but the safety of our trekkers is our highest priority. Therefore, The Searching Souls is not accepting bookings for the KGL Trek 2026 until further notice. While we knew this was a possibility, we still hoped for a different outcome. We are just as disappointed as you are as. Even so, we want to make sure your summer travel plans stay on track. To help you, we have prepared four simple options for your booking:
Option 1: Switch to Another Summer Trek
If you’re still ready for an unforgettable Himalayan adventure, you can move your booking to any of these treks:
Pin Bhaba Pass – One of the most spectacular crossover treks in the Himalayas, taking you from the lush green valleys of Kinnaur to the dramatic landscapes of Spiti. Next batch starts on 26 July.
Valley of Flowers – Walk through one of the most breathtaking alpine meadows in the Himalayas.. Available on all dates.
Hampta Pass – A classic Himalayan trek that takes you from green forests and valleys to the rugged mountains of Lahaul. Available on all dates.
Option 2: Switch to the Kashmir Valley Tour (At No Extra Cost)
You can also swap your trek for a 6-Day / 5-Night leisure tour of the valley, fully covered under your existing KGL package price.
Day 1: Pick up from Srinagar | Stay at Srinagar
Day 2: Srinagar Local Sightseeing | Stay at Srinagar
Day 3: Srinagar to Sonamarg Day Trip | Stay at Srinagar
Day 4: Srinagar to Gulmarg Day Trip | Stay at Srinagar
Day 5: Srinagar to Pahalgam Transit | Stay at Pahalgam
Day 6: Pahalgam to Srinagar | Drop at Srinagar

Option 3: Get a Travel Voucher worth more than the booking amount
If you choose to postpone your travel plans altogether, we will issue a travel voucher worth more than your booking amount. This voucher is valid for 1 year and can be applied toward any trek you book with us.
Option 4: 100% Full Refund
If none of these alternatives work for your schedule, you can opt for a complete refund of your booking amount. We will process your full amount back to you without any deductions.
What to do next: Just reach out to the sales executive you booked with earlier. Let them know which option you’d like to choose (1, 2, 3, or 4), and they’ll take care of the rest and update your booking right away.
